Dorothy Tan and The Midnight Terror

"I am Dorothy Tan". That's how the broadcaster of Singapore when it ended the news broadcast in one afternoon, about 20 years ago. In our village, far away in the interior of North Sumatra, only Singapore radio signals are caught quite clearly in radio antennas. Of course I did not understand what the broadcaster was broadcasting. But incidentally, a beloved father who knows little English, is able to capture messages from the news, which then translated his beloved father into our local language (Batak).

Parsoburan, the name of our village, was already touched by Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Jakarta. But unfortunately, his voice is still hoarse, occasionally disappeared especially when the wind is strong. As a result, not much information we can enjoy from RRI at that time. Moreover, the current electricity network is still limited, only lights up with a certain hour.

One night, shortly after Dorothy Tan completed her broadcast assignment, the whole village was suddenly startled by a group of people from Porsea, some 45 kilometers from Parsoburan. They looked panicked and frightened, squeezing in the open truck. What the hell happened? Apparently, PT Inti Indorayon (now PT Toba Pulp Lestari), a pulp mill operating in Porsea has leaked tanks containing chemicals. That said, chemicals released into the air is able to kill humans. That's what keeps the people around the factory scattering themselves to farther areas. A terrible midnight terror.

Not a bit we know the beginning of the leak before they come in droves to our village. Communication channels were still very limited. The home telephone network is not available yet, while the landline is only active until late afternoon. It is inconceivable that the pulp mill is exploding and its reach is able to reach our village. The whole village is certain to experience mass disaster.

The next day, Dorothy Tan's voice re-emerged from the radio, she preached about the incident that on the previous night made our whole village to be awake. Thankfully, the phenomenal event was not to sacrifice casualties. My dear dad translated Dorothy's news to me: no casualties.

That's my experience of a radio broadcast that must be enjoyed from the opposite country. We are forced to understand English because of the difficulty of receiving an Indonesian language broadcast. In fact, bad news from neighboring villages, should be obtained from Singapore radio.

Lake Toba and Disaster Preparedness Radio

The condition of 20 years ago is very different from now. Our previously closed village of communication channels, now arguably well established information. The telephone network and the internet have transformed into a necessity for all levels of society. It does not take many hours let alone days to find out what happened outside the village. However, the presence of radio that once had become the idol of the inhabitants of the village, slowly abandoned by the entry of television broadcasts, followed by telephone and internet. A change of time that feels very fast and instant.

In fact, Indonesia as released National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is a multi-disaster prone country. More specifically, Mount Toba which transformed into Lake Toba and is only about 70 kilometers from the Parsoburan, one of the biggest eruptions in the history of human civilization. Indeed, in the notes BNPB, Mount Toba located at the bottom of Lake Toba so far no longer active status. However, a disaster actually is very difficult to ascertain. For as the wise say, no one is able to resist nature. We can only anticipate disaster as much as possible.

Lake Toba which is now one of the world's tourism destinations continue to preen attention following the attention of the Jokowi-JK government towards this tourist destination. However, as a precaution, it is necessary to educate people around Lake Toba for "SadarBencana" (Disaster Preparedness) which may appear suddenly. Well, the presence of radio is a sufficiently effective means to provide a complete understanding to the wider community.

To be more interesting, conscious disaster radio broadcasts can be adopted from the folk legend as the folklore around about the occurrence of Lake Toba. Radio re-staging on Lake Toba may be very easy if BNPB cooperates with local government as well as holding local radio stations. I imagine the enthusiasm of the local people when hearing the story of the occurrence of Lake Toba through radio broadcasts. It would be much more interesting if the story was spoken in the local language so that the disaster-conscious messages inserted in the story scenario could be fully understood by all listeners.

As a result, SadarBencana is easily accepted as well as taking care of local wisdom which recently began eroded by the progress of the times.

In closing, I honestly wanted to meet Dorothy Tan. Anyone can help?

Mango Tree, Indonesia Family Favorite Plants

The mango tree is one of the most preferred tree species of urban society in Indonesia. In addition to expecting fruit, the owner is also protected from direct sun exposure. That is why, mango trees are often planted in the yard area of the house. Home front, side, or back of the house. Depending on where the land is empty.

Planting mango trees in principle is very easy. There are no special tricks or unique ways to go. Mango tree is a plant that is quite resilient against all weather. Even so, to harvest the sweet mango fruit, of course it takes care of the tree since the small. Mango trees should be given fertilizer once in three months. The type of fertilizer that is potent enough is NPK, or it can also UREA to mung leaf mango.

As much as possible, the mango tree should also be diligently sprinkled with soil at the base of the tree. This is very important to ensure the roots do not arise to the surface and exposed to direct sunlight. However, this trick only needs to be done if the tree is still young.

Mango trees of superior varieties, of any kind, are very easy to find. In good tree builders who settled in one place or who went around to the pockets of residential residents, on average sold Rp 30-Rp 50 thousand. Depending on the age and size of the mango tree. Since planted, the average mango will bear fruit at the age of 2-3 years, with a tree height of about 2 meters. No longer need to climb trees if you want to harvest them.

@kurawa, The Indonesia Social Media Phenomenal

Oh my dear marhaen, coincidence today is Friday, do not forget the Prayer well. Let #bejo (luck) to all.

That's roughly the opening chorus of @kurawa account whenever you want to discuss the hot topic being discussed.

On his profile page, @kurawa named Rudi Valinka pinned some of the hash tag alias tags, ie #ForensicAuditor #SokGanteng #Sinetwit #BEJO #SejutaKTPAhok. The first tags is his current profession as a forensic auditor, a profession that is still very rarely heard. If the tax auditors, independent auditors, already familiar, is not it? While the second tag, specifically for himself who is handsome, LOL.

The third tag is part of the story @kurawa ever booming when the killing of beautiful women in Bandung patterned love triangle. He discussed it from the forensic auditor's side by considering many aspects. The key word from @kurawa is, always imagining himself as the perpetrator of the crime itself. With that method, undoubtedly will be easier if you want to dismantle the motive of a person committing a crime. Perhaps this is also the thing that is often practiced by the police so often successful capture the brains of perpetrators of crime meksi armed with evidence and minimal witness.

The fourth tag, is the belief @ kurawa to the luck. This tag is famous during the 2014 presidential election, with candidates Jokowi and Prabowo. At that time, Jokowi was faced with a strong political party strength with the presence of the Red and White Coalition. But with lucky, Jokowi finally succeeded in occupying the seat Indonesia-1.

@kurawa account now become very popular among twitter’s netizen in Indonesia. Although the number of followernya not as much as Yudhoyono, proved chirp-chirp @ kurawa many responded netizen. Not infrequently, @kurawa different opinions with national figures, including groups that cons with Jokowi or Ahok.

Phenomenal chirp @ kurawa finally arrived also to the national media editorial desk. The mass media often quote his chirp on various cases, as well as to quote tweets from national figures. Even so, the kicking @ kurawa so far is still more dominant and hit, especially for the little wong, who are curious about other events behind a news. And, @kurawa is an expert to dismantle such things.

Uniquely, since active on twitter in June 2009 and has now captured as many as 135 thousand followers, @ kurawa also not merely discuss interesting topics. Occasionally, he sincerely retweeted his fans' requests. For example, to pray for a birthday, or to pray for a new business to run smoothly.

That's the trick @ kurawa scooped follower in cyberspace. He is present as a balancing flow of information presented in the mass media. But perhaps, like the Chinese proverb that Ahok has also made, @kurawa also experienced it: behind the fame there is pain.

Mr Dedi Mulyadi, The Jokowi’s Incarnation

Mr Dedi Mulyadi between marhaens (Liputan6.com)
It's been a while since I've watched Dedi Mulyadi's movements, the Purwakarta Regent who is now preparing for a political battle for West Java 1. Of course, I must assert first that I have never met or known Kang Dedi. This assertion is important so that what I want to convey remains objective, so as to escape allegations of multiple interpretations. But obviously, as a citizen of West Java, I am concerned to participate in determining the next West Java leader, in the Governor and Vice Governor Election in June 2018.

Yes, his name is Dedi Mulyadi, a very typical Sundanese called Kang Dedi. His political career as the Regent of Purwakarta, in my observation, has been quite successful so far. The indicator of success can be seen from various aspects. Such as sectors of education, infrastructure, health, and other sectors that all received appreciation from many parties.

Even so, Kang Dedi is not without obstacles or protests when he tries to bring a sense of diversity in the Land of Sunda. However, therein lies the strength of Kang Dedi's principle, which always holds the local wisdom but does not forget the contributions of figures outside of Sunda.

But what I admire most about Kang Dedi is how he treats his society. Look, on various occasions, he mingles with the people by visiting the pockets of the population he considers to require special attention. This style is certainly familiar to us, just like what was done by Joko Widodo, from since Mayor of Solo, Governor of DKI Jakarta, even to become a President.

Not surprisingly, Dedi Mulyadi was also awarded as the Democratic Leader of The Soekarno Center, given by the Board of Trustees of The Soekarno Center, Sukmawati Soekarnoputri, July 2016. Interestingly, this award was only given twice, which was first awarded to President Joko Widodo when he served as Governor of DKI Jakarta.

As an adherent to the teachings of Soeharno-style marhaenism, I judge Kang Dedi's diligent acts of visiting marhaen, very touching. Such a form of concern is an act that only a Marhaenis can afford. He does not care about his status as an important official, because his job is only a way to smooth the aspirations he wants to achieve. Not the other way around, that is persuading the little people to smooth his personal ambition.

Dedi is more interesting as the Chairman of Golkar Party at DPD West Java. Although he is a Golkar cadre, but understanding the development he made, is a sense of PDIP. However, as he once said, marhaenism does not belong to one class only, but belongs to the Indonesian nation. "Although I am the Chairman of Golkar of West Java, I am a Marhaen, I run Marhaenisme in the applicative pattern, both as Chairman of Golkar and as Regent of Purwakarta," Kang Dedi said firmly when giving a mandate in the Regional Golkar Party Congress of Indramayu Regency, September 2016 .

I totally agree with Kang Dedi's opinion. The marhaenismic teachings that Soekarno sparked were the assets of the nation that should be guided without having to pay attention to the background of his political party. Moreover, as it is known, the name marhaen was first called Soekarno after a visit to South Bandung. Marhaen is the name of a Sundanese farmer who owns farmland and cultivates the land for his benefit. In other words, the marhaen is a figure that capable by standing on his own feet.

The more perfect when the PDIP finally decided to support Kang Dedi as the Candidate of West Java Governor, by establishing a coalition with Golkar. Although in fact, PDIP is the percentage of seats in the West Java Legislative Assembly, eligible to submit its own candidate, as in the last election of the Governor of DKI Jakarta. However, PDIP I think has made the right decision. Although Kang Dedi is a cadre of Golkar, but what he has done so far as the Regent of Purwakarta has in fact fulfilled the principles in the teachings of marhaenism.

In conclusion, allow me to mention Kang Dedi as Jokowi's incarnation.

Greetings Marhaen

Silangit Airport Changed Name: Sisingamangaraja or Nommensen?

Jokowi at Silangit Airport
Silangit Airport, located in Siborong-borong, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra Province is proposed to be renamed Sisingamangaraja Airport. The change of name is an effort of appreciation to Sisingamangaraja XII, a national hero from North Tapanuli.

Silangit Airport has so far contributed much to the ease of flight of Tapanuli and surrounding communities, as it no longer has to go through Kuala Namu Airport in Deli Serdang. More specifically, Silangit Airport is projected as an airport that directly supports Lake Toba tourism. With the Silangit Airport, tourists only need an hour to get to Lake Toba. Different when landing at Kuala Namu, which must travel overland 4-5 more hours.

Silangit Airport whose name changes have been submitted to President Jokowi, in the near future will be decided. Whether the proposed Sisingamangaraja Airport will be accepted or choose another name such as Nommensen Airport. Nommensen Airport refers to the German missionary DR IL Nommensen who has contributed a lot to human development in Tapanuli.

Now, the decision is in the hands of President Jokowi.

Feel The Night Market, Marhaens

Night Market at Indonesia (Private)
At the end of the week like this, it's easy to talk about how the marhaens (lower class society) fill the day. Malls and other shopping centers let monopolized the pockets of thick pockets. Marhaen may only enjoy suburban entertainment. What is that?

The Night Market, wherever it comes from is still one of the prima donna of the middle to bottom to spend the night. No need to bother because they have to bring a lot of money, just enough satisfied kok. The Night Market, in addition to offering children's games as a main attraction, also presents other complementary merchandise such as selling children's clothing, hats, shoes, and various typical snacks of the marhaen.

In the Night Market, many children's games arena is also a top class dream. The difference, the atmosphere offered of course different. For the lower classes, there is no music that softly softens and adapted to the latest child's songs. There, there is only a child's song bang that is entirely old. That's all that's played every night.

Then, what about the tariff? As usual, just spend less than 10 thousand rupiah for one game arena. Compare with high class like Dufan, which can reach 40-100 thousand rupiah per round arena game. Of course there are many more convenience obtained by the marhaen if you want a small vacation in the Night Market.

The Night Market, though looks simple, still offers entertainment for the lower classes. Their presence is always anticipated, at least as antidote to enter the bourgeoisie. Happy holiday, marhaen.

This Is Why Batak Admires German

The arrival of DR IL Nommensen to Tanah Batak at 1862 has changed the paradigm of the Batak people frontally. From the previously closed to education, it turns into being very concerned about the importance of education. That is the reason why Batak people are always synonymous with educated society.

Nommensen, a Protestant missionary from Germany indeed succeeded in replacing the Batak people's point of view while still animist. HKBP Church is a milestone in the establishment of a new history for Batak people who until now have entered the age of more than 150 years. As a church institution, HKBP plays a significant role in changing the Batak people's awareness of the importance of education and health. That means, the church really does not only play a role in mere spirituality, between man and his God. But more than that, the church is also open to the importance of self-development through education.

Closely related education with HKBP church was already proven when the Batak people have many successful to become officials, businessmen, military, and influential politicians in Indonesia. This is where the early rise of Batak fanaticism of the Germans, Nommensen's birthplace. For the Batak people, Nommensen is a very phenomenal and very important figure.

Nommensen died in 1918 and was buried in Sigumpar, Tobasa Region, North Sumatra Province. The Batak tribe as a whole accepted the gospel through its ministry, so Nommensen was nicknamed "the apostle of the Batak".

The love for Nommensen eventually spread to all Germans. So if you are a German want to visit the Land of Batak, almost certainly you will be warmly welcomed by the people there. In fact, Batak people in general always idolized the German National Football Team in the European Cup or World Cup.

The Other Side of The Solo City

Solo Batik Carnival 2017 (Private)
This is actually not planned journey. We was apparently greeted by Solo Batik Carnival (SBC) 2017, which lasted for three days (July 14-16) 2017. From the name, we are still first set foot to Solo of course think SBC will present the most complete batik exhibition at an affordable price as well. In fact, the court of Vastenburg Castle (just called Benteng), Solo as the location of the event center, only two merchants peddling batik clothes. The rest, dominated by culinary traders who line neatly on both sides of the stage. Uniquely, although the theme of batik, court Benteng also enlivened by booths that offer residential homes. That's the atmosphere of the first day SBC.

Well, the long-awaited arrived, according to the announcement that we heard on the first day. On the second day, precisely on Saturday, a number of streets in Solo were diverted, to provide road access to the entourage from various regions in Java featuring the best batik. Interestingly, batik is displayed not just batik but modified by displaying a number of puppet figures. Actually I do not know exactly whether the model of men and women dressed in batik wear like a puppet character or not. What is clear, they look dashing and beautiful wearing batik, complete with additional accessories. More than half an hour for the Solo march to arrive and end the convoy in the Benteng grounds.

As for the third day, we no longer attend the event. However, from the announcement we received, the last day's event will be filled with a number of band performances or dance studio which is dominated by students in Solo City, West Java. In addition, SBC 2017 is the tenth event, routinely held annually. But that was, SBC is not a batik exhibition, but more to the cultural carnival featuring batik as one of the characteristics of Solo. Meanwhile, if you want to batik shopping, available in many Klewer Market and other batik centers not far from the Citadel/The empire of Surakarta.

Chicken Soup Mixed Rice

Do not think chicken soup (soto ayam) in Solo just like in Jakarta and surrounding areas. Not a matter of taste but how to serve it. In Solo, chicken soup that is served already at once mixed with rice. In other words, tasting chicken soup in Solo is only served in a bowl, without a plate as a place of rice. This is different from chicken soup in Jakarta and surrounding areas which usually separates chicken and rice soup. Unfortunately, I do not have a collection of photos from this chicken soup.

Solo Without Urban Transportation

Traveling around Solo still feels good because it is still far from the traffic jam. Even if stuck, still in the stage can be understood, especially in the morning and evening. However, it could also congestion in Solo is almost nonexistent because urban transportation (angkot) is not there. Instead, we can enjoy a taxi with xenia or avanza type vehicles, which can now be ordered online. Taxis in Solo have teamed up with the two most current online taxi providers.

In addition, it is from Adi Soemarmo Airport, Damri buses are also available for a long route. The difference, the Damri stop in Solo is similar to TransJakarta bus stop. However, the halt is small. In fact, at some bus stops, there are only small stairs to make it easier for passengers to board a bus.

King Jokowi's Hat

From the taxi driver we were traveling to, I asked, the building on the street resembles the dome what's its name? "It's a royal hat as a substitute for the Welcome Monument, built by Mr. Jokowi when he was still Mayor, so now he became King (President of Indonesia)," he said. Jokowi King's hat is unique, because the umbrella of the street below.

That was a glimpse of our three days of observation and experience in Solo. Of course there are still many locations that have not been explored yet. A side other than Solo City, the village of H.E Mister Jokowi.

You Tough Enough? Prove It at Semarang Rainbow Village

Kampung Pelangi Semarang (Private)
WELCOME to Rainbow Village (Kampung Pelangi). You will read that on one of the entrances Kampung Pelangi. Yes, Kampung Pelangi, as the name implies, is a village in Semarang City, Central Java, which is all over the outside of the house painted in colorful.

Monday (17/7/2017),I within my family came to Kampung Pelangi. We were curious about the story of a friend, who called Kampung Pelangi located not far from downtown Semarang, very interesting to visit. Sure enough, Kampung Pelangi, is very beautiful because the location and colors that envelop the village was very indulgent eyes.

Why should it be discussed? No other, so you if you want to travel there, prepare your stamina first. Because, Kampung Pelangi not much different from the condition of the hills in Puncak, Bogor, West Java. I counted, only five houses from the entrance were lined up to the street. The rest, you will be served with an extreme up to the top. If not strong, you should undo it to continue up the staircase ladder which also painted in like the rainbow.

Uniquely, Kampung Pelangi, which according to one of the merchants there, consists of about 600 houses, which has a "road rat/shortcut" that are connected. That means, we can surround all parts of Kampung Pelangi from alley to alley to reach to the peak. Well, from the peak, we can enjoy the scenery of the highway, part of Semarang city, and green hills located in the distance.

The colors in Kampung Pelangi, still according to traders' narrative, are the biggest today. That is, the number of compact houses painted simultaneously. Even so, paint and painting costs entirely borne by the City Government of Semarang. "Mostly we prepare a coffee drink for the work," said the merchant mother who is located at the entrance of Kampung Pelangi.

Yes, with the changing of the village like a rainbow, indeed at the same time change or at least bring a new fortune for the residents. Almost the entire population there finally opened a merchandise store, such as providing drinks, food, or to rent a colorful umbrella. Do not worry, the price that traders offer remains the same as the price outside. There is no price difference.

For young people, maybe the "love padlock" ritual can also be tried. A row of padlocks is now hanging there, precisely on the bridge Kali Semarang, connecting Kampung Pelangi with the main street.

For information, to enjoy Kampung Pelangi, there is no entry fee. The presence of Kampung Pelangi more beautiful by the flower shop that line along the Dr. Sutomo street, in front of Kampung Pelangi.

Also, to get there from the city center is also relatively easy by the presence of Trans Semarang which similar as TransJakarta in Jakarta.

How Indonesia to Get More Tourists

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Indonesia (Kompas)
One of Indonesia's efforts to attract tourists from abroad is to increase flight routes from a number of countries such as Australia, China, India, Japan, and South Korea.

In addition to increased flight routes, the Indonesian government is also working to improve airport facilities such as adding airport runways, improving the quality of buildings, navigation systems, so that plane can operate under adverse weather conditions.

Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia numbered 11.52 million last year, a 10.7 per cent rise from a year earlier, according to data from the country's statistics agency, BPS. This compares with 32.6 million arrivals in Thailand last year, and 25.7 million in Malaysia in 2015.

Indonesia expects 12 million foreign visitors this year, and predicts numbers will climb to 20 million in 2019.

Indian tourist arrivals in Bali rose the biggest in percentage terms last year, by around 60 per cent to more than 150,000 people.

Indian tourists ranked sixth in the number of tourists visiting Bali, after visitors from Australia, China, Japan, Britain and France.

Chinese tourists, the biggest spenders in Indonesia, have shot up to second spot only in recent years.

The Untold Story: The Indonesia Conglomerate DL Sitorus

DL Sitorus (Viva.co.id)
The conglomerate Darius Lungguk Sitorus, commonly called DL Sitorus, was declared dead on a Garuda plane shortly before flying from Jakarta to Medan. That's the breaking news in Indonesia that crowded on Thursday afternoon, August 3, 2017.
Well, before further discussing about this eccentric man, I must tell first about the culture of the Batak people who always prioritize the call of a subname, not a name. That is why Darius Lungguk is abbreviated as DL. Thus, he is better known as DL Sitorus. So when you get acquainted with a Batak, he will first mention his subname. For example, "Hi, I'm Pardosi." Somehow it's a bit different to call, for example, "Hi, I am Isaac."

But do not worry about it. It's just a habit, which has been passed down among the Batak. Called just the name though, is also not a problem. But there is a requirement, the freedom to name it only applies to those who are Non-Batak. While in the internal Batak, taste-it feels very long when it should be described here. So, let's just discuss about DL Sitorus.

DL Sitorus quirky? Yes, it is. Because, in the whole of his life, DL often deal with parties who are often opposite to him. As a palm oil businessman, school, to hospital, not infrequently he faces a business hurdle that is not light. Including dealing with the local government to the central government.

Well, of the many his stories, there are three series of events that have now become part of the eternal story at Tobasa community, North Sumatra. And, the story is very little reviewed when you try to search it on Google. The only way to find out is to read this article thoroughly.

DL Sitorus who was born March 12, 1938, has a "palace" magnificent in his village, District Silaen, Tobasa, about 30 kilometers from my village. He often settled there, especially when his entire company was managed by both sons.

The first story is related to Pilkada Tobasa 2005 ago (Local Election to Elect the Bupati, top government level on a district. You may called it Mayor). DL at that time candidate nominee named Monang Sitorus. In one of Silaen's campaigns, DL loudly challenged other regent candidates to jointly cook buffalo by burning it with a hundred thousand rupiahs. Wow ... who's brave to do that?

After all, no one has calculated approximately how many hundred thousand bills will run out to cook a buffalo. But the taste-it seems, the number has reached billions and even tens of billions. Of course the DL challenge is a signal that he is ready all-out as long as the candidate who championed to win the fight. Shortly, Monang Sitorus was finally succeeded in becoming regent.

Another legendary story from a Sitorus DL is when he was able to reunite the HKBP church that had split in two, in 1997. At that time, HKBP as the largest church in Indonesia and even Southeast Asia, was experiencing a complicated conflict following the dualism of leadership. The atmosphere in Tapanuli at that time was quite creepy. In fact, President Soeharto had to intervene. However, the peak of the peace of both sides of the conflict was born when DL Sitorus was appointed as a negotiator as well as a mediator. Previously, the peaceful team consisting of a number of Batak-blooded generals, has not been able to break the ice. DL Sitorus valiantly met the two sides until the peace agreement was reached.

The story is not less interesting is how DL Sitorus is very "afraid" of his beloved mother, Theresia br Panjaitan, who had already pass away on October 25, 2016 at the age of quite elderly 98 years. In fact, DL Sitorus is known as a "iron man" if someone is trying to block his decision.

Even so, any decision that has been made DL Sitorus can suddenly "raw" when the decree of the mother said different. There was a story when DL Sitorus fired an employee who could finally get back to work after "persuade" to DL Sitorus’ mother. And, DL is very obedient to his mother. The decision of the mother is a binding and retroactive decision for DL Sitorus.

So the public Tobasa believe, in Pilkada 2010 and elections 2015 Tobasa, Monang Sitorus previously "sanctioned" DL Sitorus finally collapsed because of another command from Mother. Both Pilkada is indeed followed by another candidate who is also surnamed Sitorus. Unfortunately, the decree of the mother is different from the personal desires of DL Sitorus. Although it is, both elections are finally won by candidates who are not surnamed Sitorus. In political calculations, it happens because of the split of votes as a result of the unanimous support of DL Sitorus.

However, DL Sitorus is one of Batak's pride people. Moreover, DL Sitorus is also very concerned about the world of education and health, as evidenced by the foundation Yadika Foundation, and now has spread across the country. DL Sitorus, though poorly educated, supposedly only graduated from elementary school, is very concerned about the world of education and health.

Goodbye DL Sitorus, peace on His side. Amen

Yudhoyono, The “Presidential Chef” Indonesia Election 2019

Yudhoyono-Prabowo (Kompas.com)
Indonesia President Election 2019 is predicted will not be much different from the 2014 Presidential Election, with only two candidate pairs followed. That, too, like the 2014 presidential election, the presidential candidate who will fight is also similar: Jokowi and Prabowo. Only the vice presidential candidates will be different, after Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) affirmed no longer intend to follow the nomination of president or vice president. This is very understandable due to the age of JK who has entered the twilight. While in the camp Prabowo, the opportunity to hold Hatta Rajasa as vice president is still very open. However, about who will be the companion Jokowi-Prabowo, it's still too early to discuss.

Well, the meeting of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Prabowo Subianto in Cikeas became very interesting observed. Especially when it is related to the Election Law which requires Presidential Threshold (PT) 20 percent. With PT 20 percent, inevitably political parties are likely to coalesce to carry the presidential candidate. While the combined vote (election results 2014) based on the composition of party supporters of the current government is very sufficient to re-carry Jokowi as president. On the other hand, with non-government party wagons have also been able to nominate Prabowo.

Both nominating scenarios eventually put Democrats to the fore. Democrats are in the middle, which if siding with one of the candidates will have a significant impact. In other words, Democrats return to play their role as the 2014 presidential election takes place. At that time, Democrats chose not to side with Jokowi or Prabowo. The result, Jokowi won the presidential election with a thin result.

Then, how the position of Democrats under the command of SBY in the 2019 presidential election later? With the meeting SBY-Prabowo, of course will give new hope for Prabowo. At least, Prabowo will appear more confident to face Jokowi. If Democrats really support Prabowo in the 2019 presidential election, his chances of winning are of course very high. Conversely, if SBY finally blesses Jokowi, Prabowo's chances of winning are thin.

Herein lies the strategic position of SBY. He has the political power to decide who is the winner of the 2019 presidential election. With the requirement of PT 20 percent, even though SBY calls it injure the people, but in fact has generated enormous profits for the Democrats. Because, with the high PT, presidential candidates are almost certainly only two pairs. Of course it will be different story if PT only pegged zero percent, which gives opportunity for all party to carry its candidate.

In conclusion, the beneficiaries in the provisions of PT 20 percent are actually on the Democratic side. Prabowo and Jokowi once again have to "seduce" SBY if they want to win a landslide victory in the 2019 presidential election. If Prabowo has seduced SBY, when is Jokowi's turn? What is clear, the dish of “fried rice” served to Prabowo in Cikeas meeting can be interpreted as a political symbol. That SBY is a chef in the 2019 presidential election. Whatever happens in the 2019 presidential election, is the result of "cuisine" from SBY.
